What are Intended Parents?

Individuals or couples who choose to create their family through third party reproduction, this may include egg, sperm or embryo donation and a surrogate mother.

Types of Surrogacy

There are two different types of surrogacy: gestational surrogacy and traditional surrogacy. In gestational surrogacy, the surrogate has no genetic relationship to the baby she carriers.

step-by-step guide

What is the Process to Become a Parent?

Becoming parents involves many steps and phases. While parts of each journey will be similar, each journey will have it’s own unique process and time frame. Below is a guide to the process of becoming a parent. But of course just like each person is unique so is each journey, timeframe and surrogacy process.

Phase 1: Getting Started

Your journey will begin by having an initial phone consultation with the Director of Surrogacy Services. During this time you’ll be able to ask questions, address concerns and gain a better understanding of the timeline, costs, and BSS’ unique process. Once your Intended Parent profile is complete, Beautiful Soul Surrogacy will conduct a detailed in-take meeting. This important step will allow BSS the opportunity to clarify information gathered and address any additional preferences you may have.

Phase 2: Surrogate Recruiting

After BSS has found a potential Surrogate, we will arrange a video call with the potential Surrogate, Intended Parents and the Director of Surrogacy Services. After which both parties must mutually agree to move forward. Once the match is finalized, BSS will facilitate an appointment for the Surrogate with the fertility clinic for an in-person screening.

Phase 3: Legal

Once the Surrogate has been granted medical clearance from the fertility Doctor, the legal process will begin. BSS will partner you with the best attorney that is licensed in the state where the delivery will take place, the attorney will represent you and your interests and will draft the legal agreement between you and your Surrogate.

Phase 4: Medical

Once the legal contract is finalized and signed by both parties, the fertility clinic will be notified and arrangements will be made for the Surrogate to begin her medication protocol. Once the Surrogate begins her medication a tentative embryo transfer date will be set. While the Surrogate is on her medicine she will have several monitoring appointments to evaluate her progress. Once her body is at an ideal state for transfer, she will receive the embryo transfer!

Phase 5: Pregnancy

Possibly the most exciting phase, pregnancy! The committed team at BSS will track the progress of the pregnancy and wellbeing of your Surrogate. We will be in continual contact with Intended Parents and the Surrogate. The Director of Surrogacy Services is always accessible by phone, text or email. As the Surrogates pregnancy progresses, BSS will make the necessary arrangements to establish the birthrights with the Intended Parents attorney as well as notify the Surrogates delivery hospital of the nearing delivery. If the Intended Parents and Surrogate would enjoy a tour of the hospital prior to delivery BSS will also make the necessary arrangements.

Phase 6: Updates

Once your Surrogate has delivered and you are enjoying your new bundle of joy, it’s always nice to keep in touch with your Surrogate. Emails or text messages with updates or photos are nice ways of communication in most cases.

For this child I have prayed; and the Lord hath given me
my petition which I asked of him.

1 Samuel 1:27
